As a "Whitey" I attended the meeting at Clayton Community Centre to discuss the bad publicity in the news, from the after parties following the Miss South Sudan contest.

I met some really concerned members of the Sudanese community, that were so disappointed that such a wonderful event was spoilt, by the bad press that came from the behaviour of a few irresponsible individuals.

It is evident that the newspapers & TV thrive on the bad incidents, & don't seem to want to show the good achievements of the Sudanese community. 

Unfortunately the whole Sudanese community is judged by the items in the news, & we all need to weed out the antisocial behaviour of these few individuals. They need to know that it is not acceptable behaviour in your or our community. They need to know that they have a responsibility to their own people. 

But the most disappointing thing I got from the meeting, was that not enough members of the Sudanese community were concerned enough to bother coming to the meeting, and no one from the age group that was involved.
